Career started in the early 1980s with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (Chicago Office/now KPMG) doing due diligence work related to possible acquisitions as well as doing consulting work for a number of large financial institutions, insurance and construction companies.

After leaving Peat Marwick, I went on to specialize in helping many of the world’s largest banks increase their profitability. Worked at the CEO, CIO, CFO, CMO client levels in the US (JP Morgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, Discover Financial, American Express, Citi Bank and many others)in the UK (RBS & Morgan Stanley and others) in Canada (RBC and others) and Australia & New Zealand(ANZ Bank, Common Wealth Bank and others) along with several other domestic and international clients. President-NBD Corp., Director Research & Development-PTC Corp., and Practice Director/EVP -EPG Corp. were my roles/positions during this period (1986 thru 2002). During this period, I simultaneously started a construction business (1993) and over the years have built things such as a sports arena (I was also controlling owner) and single-family homes (In-Line Development, LLC and Nickum Construction, LLC).

During the late 1990s I was elected to the Board of a large POA (Beech Mountain Club) and took lead role in that turnaround situation (Developer exited with facilities under-reserved etc.). At the end of a 3-year term I had just sold my primary business, wife just went through a large buy-out of her firm and our son was a serious alpine ski racer…so we moved to Steamboat Springs, CO during 2002.

After a few years of playing around and getting bored, I started a few companies as well and built(designed and built with my hands 2007/2008) an estate sized home/property outside the town of Steamboat.

After that, I got involved with turning around small to medium sized companies throughout the US and Canada (Global Resources 2009 - 2012) and eventually set-up my own holding company (D & B Management Corp. 2013 - 2023) so my staff could handle the accounting and management oversite of, at one point, 28 companies. A point of interest, we used private software to support our capital reserve studies for various fixed assets and worked in a full GAAP audit environment utilizing a national firm for several of my operating unit audit and bonding requirements. Last business was sold 3/31/2023 and I retired at that point.

I have been riding a bike/walking, golfing, dealing with aging parents and playing a little pickleball ever since with some involvement in HOA 2 (Committee level) matters.
